Well, my hooker super comp headers and sidepipes are on there way. Any of you have any major problem installing them on a 79 like mine? Any advice you can give me on the installation? Do I need air conditioning brackets? Any quick help would be great, first big project since I've had it heh.
My 79 is white and I ordered the black painted ones, partially cause they are a good amount cheaper and I think it would look Well any advise anyone can give about installation would be awesome
Check the clearance between the header pipe and the steering box before you tighten all the bolts.... ask me how I know..... one pipe on the driver's side might need some
You'll have to widen the holes in the frame a little to get the support brackets lined up correctly.
Don't cut the rocker panels per their instructions, you may not have to cut at all, you may have to cut less than the instructions show. Don't assume you have to cut both sides only because the other side doesn't fit...
Well the headers and pipes came today yay Now to put them on heh. I think I'm gonna go down tomorrow and strip all the paint off my rocker panels and polish them up before the insall. So in the end it will be white car, shiny rocker panels and black sidepipes, I'll be sure to take some pics once the project is done
send us pic's of the install step by step and then I would like to hear what you think of driving the vette around w/s-pipes vs under side exhaust. thinking about getting them & the noise factory inside the cab & burning my leg are holding me back. so lets hear the review.
I got 'em on my '78 man and I love 'em!! I had to make a small 1/2" crescent shaped cut on my passenger side rocker panel for clearance, but the rest of the install went easy. I do not have A/C though, so I am not sure about the bracket setup there, however, I do remember getting that bracket in the box with the headers. I got my Hookers and pipes direct from JetHot with the sterling finish. Post some pics when you get them on!
