I'm buying new wheels for my 81 and I need to know what the best backspacing and offset would be to avoid having the wheel stick out to far. I want to stay with the 15" wheel. The stock wheel is a 15 x 8 with a -12.7 mm offset. I'm looking at the Chrome Torq Thrust "D" but it is a 15 x 8.5 with a 3.75 BS and a
-24 mm offset. I'm wanting to run a 255/60/15 BFG tire. Will this set up work with sticking out past the fender well? Pics would be a big help Help me out before the wife changes her mind and says "NO"
I'd stick with a 4" BS, or you may run into issues with the parking brake cable bracket on the trailing arm.
In the front, less than 4" BS may allow the tire to rub the frame.
255/60/15 (and wider, too) will fit fine on an 8" rim. For this tire,
I would recommend the standard rim size 15x8 w/ 4"BS.
Some have reported a slight rub on teh front with 255s, but
most are clear and the light rub is only at full lock.
