Today was a beautiful day in North Texas. Since I had the day off, I popped the tops and took the old gal for a morning spin.
On my way home, I was waiting on a redlight at a major intersection. I was eastbound waiting for the westbound turn light to finish. When it did and I got the green, I waited a few seconds as I always do to make sure the intersection was clear. I then started through with everyone else that was waiting.
Just then some freaking IDIOT came roaring through from the west to make a left turn. Everyone had to slam on their brakes as this fool made a unprotected left turn in front of us.
If I had decided to "get on it" at all when the light had changed, we would have wrecked, no doubt about it.
The bottom line is, be careful out there guys and gals. There are a lot of people on the road that simply do not have very good driving skills

Glad to hear you dodged that bullet! Can't tell you how many times this has happened to me which is why I never shoot off the line when the light changes.
I'll go you one better about your assessment of driving skills. IMNSHO, the skill level of the majority of American drivers today is absolutely pathetic. Running red lights, no clue how to merge into traffic from a highway on-ramp, driving slow in the left lane, on & on & on. Don't get me started, because I'll go ballistic about this subject!!!!!
I'm in Addison, and I have seen some real idiots driving around here. I only wish I wasn't working b/c it is beautiful today. Perfect weather to have the tops off.
I got all of ya beat, I survive South Florida Tourist Season, LOL. They merge on the interstate (I95) at 14mph, back up on the interstate when they miss an exit, make U turns from the right lane, fun, fun, fun.
BTW, Interstate hiway commision says I95 from Blue Heron Blvd to Sunrise is the most dangerous section of interstate in the system, I believe em.
South Florida here...nuff said! Here we get them all...it's a melting pot of driving lunacy!!
Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY vigilant when I take the old girl out for a drive. I've already had one close call and that was just while trying to make it out of the neighborhood! Sometimes I wonder if I am the only one who ever read the driving manual .......
That's the reason I try to avoid driving in Dallas unless I just have to. The drivers up there scare me to death. I'm down in Ellis county btw. I've never driven my vette in Dallas....my nerves just couldn't take it.
Crash80.....is Castle Hills around Medina lake???......or am I thinking of something else??.... I grew up near Pipe Creek Texas.

OK....thanks kona. Been a while since I've been in Kerrville.....pretty place. Actually, my brother was born there.
Pipe Creek used to be nothing more than the old rock post office and Ed Jennings store......no telling what it's like now. I bet Bandera has changed a bunch too.

The absolute rudest, most inattentive, blatantly wreckless drivers are here in South Florida. I look forward to going away on vacation every year so I can actually enjoy diving again.
The "California stop" is still alive and well....run up to stop sign at 60 mph...tap brakes..stump on the gas !!!
That is our most dangerous situation...where people have to make decisions...
I'm fortunate to only have to drive 15 miles on I-75 each way. While we have a lot of truck traffic coming out of Michigan, the biggest problem seems to be people swerving between the lanes, running 55 and using cell phones. Don't get me wrong. I use the cell a lot but am a firm believer in a head set and remaining attentive to my environment.
