Default Lubing a speedo cable

thanks to being small ( it does have its good points at times)
i can undo my speedo cable with relative ease at the
speedometer itself.
what im wondering is

can i just slide the cable out, clean and lube and replace all from under the dash end? or do i have to disconnect and remove?

thanks in advance

by the way going to be nice enough to show it off at work tomorrow here in NJ and im looking forward to the drive in.

Default Tight Squeeze

On my 78 SA the access to the cable where it hooks to the speedo itself was a real PITA and a tight squeeze. Push back towards the rear end of the vette on the clip pull on and the entire cable will disconnect from the speedo. Also if you have cruise disconnect from the transducer and remove the inner cable from under the dash. Once inner cable is removed it can be lubed, recommend not to over lub it. Used a grafite grease myself. Reinstall inner cable, reconnect to speedo, reconnect to cruise transducer and you should be good to go. Still have sore spots on my hands but speedo works great. Enjoy the experience!

Yes, just make sure you have it seated back in the trans gear before you try to connect it back up to the speedo.

When I did mine I unhoked at spedo and pulled the cable out (no cruise) greased it and slid it back in. I still had to jack up the car and disconnect it at the trans to get it to seat correctly.

Good luck

Can I please ask a dumb question here? How do you get grease in the cable and will it stop my needle bouncing?

and getting reinstalled.
