Default C3 conversions?

Has anyone installed a 92+ LT1, LS1, T56, etc into a C3? I'm thinking of getting a late 70s C3 to use as a donor, and I'd like to give it a more modern and more powerful engine/drivetrain. Any advice or website links at all would be extremely helpful- from what year C3 would be a good/cheap one to buy, to problems with the conversions, etc. Thanks.

Plenty of conversions on here from tpi-lt-1 ls1-ls6's ect... i had tpi first then swapped to a ls1-700r4 combo.Overall its not that bad of a conversion easier then my tpi swap, youll need motor mounts, a better fuel setup, have the pcm setup to whatyou want,no vats etc...

What about a new GM Performance Parts catalog crate engine? A ZZ383/435? Fast Burn 383? ZZ4? Ram Jet 350? 350HO? Since these engines are not computer controlled, putting them into a early C3 becomes a lot easier, I believe.

That is an option. I'm just kind of researching it now, trying to learn what I can, pricing different options, etc. If the price would be a lot less doing a ZZ383 or something instead of an LS1 or newer computer controlled engine, I could very well end up going that route.

Good grief, computer control systems aren't that difficult. If you're just installing a stock engine, they're pretty easy.

Its as easy as connecting power and ground. The only tricky part is to figure out where to connect them.

Yep a few hot wires and a few ground wires and your set,you can use a stock fbody harness and have it wired in a few hours or less.

In the Corvette? No. I've done plenty of FI work in other vehicles, though.

I think you are the first person I know of that picked out your drivetrain and then started looking for a car as a 'donor' for it! Go for it! I have been dreaming of a LS1 powered 69 for years, and the Goodguys car show at Del Mar didn't help get rid of the bug, either. There was all sorts of LSx powered muscle there.

There are many FI conversions running around. TPI the simplest, LS power the hardest. Lots of parts are available for LS conversions now. Go for it!
