Default How to.......

Will appreciate it if anyone out there could walk me through on how to replace rear quarter panel. Wouldn't this be easier to do rather than repair the old one?

the Ecklers Body Repair Video covers this exact procedure.
Basically;
Grind off the body seam line on the fender to expose the seam where the bonding strip is, chisel out the seam from the door opening to the rear bumper seam (bumper needs to be off)
there is a bonding strip that runs up the back of the door opening, chisel the panel off it from the back side.
Cleanup and/or replace the bomding strips
Test fit the new panel, trim where necessary
Glue i all back together, sand and paint.
Thats a very over simplistic description but covers the basics.
The video covers technique pretty good and the visual will help a lot.
There are several real body guys in here know a Lot more than me

What's gonna get you is this:

Test fit the new panel, trim where necessary

My opinion is that it is easier to repair, since you retain some structure to work off of.
If the repairs don't work out for you - then cut it off and replace whole panel.
How bad is the damage you need to repair ?

thats a good point, you didn't say what shape the fender is in. If its busted up some but mostly intact, it might be easier to fix.
Post a pic of the damage if you can

I found this thread today but am very anxiuos to see your pictures. I unfortunaly had someone clip me in the driver side of my '80. I did damage to my door and quarter panel where they come together. His insurance is giving me problems and I am starting to look at worse case scenarios.
