Default 70-454 TH400 Question

I have a 1970 454-390 Corvette that I have restored(2 years) it runs great and I love the car. My question is this, it appears to shift out of low gear to soon,if I get on it from a dead stop it takes off like it should but then it shifts into second too soon(at least I believe it does) when it goes into 2 gear it still runs strong but does not accelerate like it should because it kicked out of low too soon. Is there any adjustment to the tranny that can be made to have it stay in low longer? I know I can put it in low and wind it up but I would like the trans to do it by iteslf. I have a new modulator, filter and gaskets, is there anything that can be done to make it stay in low gear longer?
Best Regards
Bob in Boca

Bob,

The new modulator I put in my 73 has a screw adjustment inside the outer vacuum fitting. (Look inside using a flashlight) Turning it will adjust how much vacuum is required to acuate the modulator, thus changing your shift time
