Is this a stock motor? IMHO if so, take the original valve covers off, sand them down, get yourself some factory paint, paint 'em nice, and bada boom, bada bing! you got new valve covers! $5 in paint and maybe a couple of hours in labor AND you got the "right" valve covers. Of course you could buy some funky chrome ones or something...

You asked for a pic so here is my '79 stock matching motor - took this pic last weekend. (Notice the valve covers )

I was debating the same thing in my mind a year ago. I decided to get a new version of the stock chrome valve covers that originally came with my car. The old ones were beyond repair, although I did save them for future reference. This may not be a flashy as some of the newer designs, but I wanted to retain the old look. It depends what you're after.

If you can find them/afford them I would go with some finned valve covers
L-82 Valve Covers on Ebay

These are what I am getting after I pay for my rims, tires, and exhaust!

Yeah, I like those finned ones. Id like to get a set that had the Chevrolet script on it. I was surprised to see how much these things go for though...

They are the Indy's. They are 255/60R15. Those pics are of my failed attempt to highlight the Indy and Firestone logo. It looked great while it lasted.
