Default Father/Son project

Good day all,
Just joined this forum. Have been reading up on all the excellent info in regards to Vette restoration. Oldest son is now 15. Picked up an 81 with front end damage. (frame issues and a removed front clip) not by choice. All else seems OK. Will take car to a frame shop next week for evaluation. Motor/interior etc is out. Bird cage is clean, hopefully we can continue after next week with the resto process. Look forward to participating on this sight and maximizing the years of experience to ensure this project is a success.
Regards,
Joe45

Sounds good, Joe. However, be prepared for the onslaught of
warnings to NOT give your son the opportunity to kill himself in it.

Putting the front clip on properly can be a daunting task. However,
I did it, so many others can too. Research the materials needs to bond
your 81 back on.

You and your son will learn a lot along the way.
Hopefully, he can earn enough respect to drive her when done.
Good Luck ... can't wait to see the pics and progress.

Guys,
Thanks for the replies allready. I will endeed post pics. shortly. For some reason my son loves the Vettes. He saw a picture of his Mom & I in my 78 pace car back in the day!. Now 46. Boy does time fly. As we work on the 81 together I continue to stress the importance of driver safety. We openly discuss respect for the car, its potential and the risk asssocited with owning such a great car. It gives me great pleasure seeing him in the cockpit, pretending to drive>he is a great kid! Now my youngest son is negotiating the ownership of the 66 GTO. We will see. Thanks again

Welcome Joe and son! I have a 15 year old and we have begun a frameoff on an 81 4 speed.. Folks here are worth millions in knowledge and helpfulness.
Just remember not to ask about 16 year olds driving as NHVETTE alluded to.

Best of luck and stay in touch. Remember, we love pix and there are a million guys who have screwed it up before you, so don't be afraid to ask first and maybe save yourself some grief
