yeah u can but u need a head phone jack to rca converter thingy.... not sure on the overall power that the head phone jack can make throught the rca's but if it's good enough u can use it..... meaning that the frequency/volumn is not too much/too little........ back when i had my hooptie, i rigged up a walkman to an amp and it worked great.....
hey everyone, i do the same thing with my ipod...i will tell you that right now i have the monster cable fm transmitter for my ipod (80$ and worth every cent!). I kept my stock head unit and i have a 10" JL sub with a 400W Kenwood amp pushin it...sounds great. You lose very little with sound with a good transmitter. so if you want go ahead and run it right to your amp, but man just save yourself a lot of work and buy a good monster cable transmitter.
not if your looking for quality sound..... I've got a $800 pair of 4 gauge speaker wires for home B&W speakers... worth every penny.
as far as running the ipod to an amp... dont do it. you need a pre-amplifier inbetween the two. I'd say your best choice is an FM transmitter, but then again.... does your radio have FM? or only AM?
I thought I saw a post around here in which someone said they had one directly plugged in and it worked fine
yea, it would work... but your not going to get NEARLY as much amplitude out of it had you run a pre-amp.... problem is, the ipod headphone output at max volume is pretty much equal to a line level output... for example, you have a modular stereo at home consisting of a preamp, power amplifier (with no volume ***** or anything) and a cd player. if you took the cd player and plugged it direclty into the amp, thats what you'd be doing with the ipod. There would be pretty much 80-90% of the amplifiers power output potential at rest... no way to utilize it.
its not monster cable(s) its one wire from the cigarette lighter to your ipod,...yes, its a product of Monster, however its just a transmitter, and since i bought about 3 or 4 for 40 bucks and a 1 for 50 and returned every single one for not working at all...i think that is grounds for saying that it isnt a rip off

yes, an external amp will need to be connected directly to the battery with a fuse in line. Again though, you need some sort of source unit to feed the amplifier. I suggest you get yourself an aftermarket head unit and either replace your original (will require cutting) or mount it behind you in a makeshift box or something. With a new headunit, you could even get away without buying an amplifier.

Heh... I used to be like you. But Ive read several articles in time past about Monster's over-inflated prices. I also spent some time experimenting with a couple different brands on my home theater setup.
You are paying for a name only. Buy hey, I guess some people have too much money.
