Rear Spring Recomendation...
I know another one...did the search, read the posts and archives nothing seemed to answer my question. Read about the 7 and 9 leaf as well as the composite springs..
Have a 72 convertible, base 350 auto. plan on keeping the car stock or stock looking as much as possible. Car came from GM with a 9 leaf, currently has a 7.
Want a nice, firm ride, good handling and correct height.
Recomendations!!!!
thanks
I just did a complete suspension rebuild to my '69 and I went with the VB&P 360lb. monoleaf. I've been very happy with it but almost wish I would have went a little stiffer. I think it looks so cool with the monoleaf and spare tire carrier removed.
Here is a link to a picture but be warned it is huge so I wouldn't click on it unless you have high-speed access. I left it large so you can zoom in on the rear suspension but it's a little dark. Oh and nevermind the half naked girl sitting on the back.

just replces my rear, fron t next, went with the 9 leaf, a littel more arch, and i like to ride high in the saddle, that and KYB's and VBP strurods with forged ends. i use mine as a highway runner so i like the 9 leaf's feel, back end went from trying to beat the front around corners to tucking up nicely, if yolu want the performance stick with the 7 though stiffer spring
Here is my 69...recently installed a Guldstrand 7 leaf (1 1/2" shorter than stock) and Bilstein Sports...the ride is firm and much improved over the TRW composite spring on the vette when I purchased it..
The issue I had with the TRW was a bounce/lope experienced when hitting a bump at speed..not the case with the 7 leaf..
You can adjust height up/down with either long or short bolt kits...

One advantage is that spring is 1 1/2" shorter than stock 7 leaf which gives you more tire clearance at mounting bolts..the other for me is this spring is about 50# stiffer than stock 7 leaf..(got a 502 and torque at 570 Ft Lbs)
Be sure to call them for info....ask for Bobby..

Look at this thread. Lot of good info. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1360447
I swapped out the front and back springs recently with a composite rear and new fronts from VPB.
Before
After
If you go composite, you gotta get the right shocks
