Since when is a Forum Member a "n00bies". I thought the reason we all come to this site is because we share a passion for the Corvette.

I think the comment by Jughead was unnecessary and flat out common.

Nobody is asking to trade places with Mike. We are all just saying, do your business in a professional manner and everyone will be singing you praise.

Let's not get ugly here.

Oh, and we are still waiting to here from Mike?

that is true.

My beef is with AlCherry a nobody on the forum who comes out of the woodwork and calls Mike Stupid. Mike has earned his place on this forum and the right to some respect.
AlCherry on the otherhand is some newcomer , contributes very little and trashes someone he doesn't know.
People earn respect on the forum and the vultures come out when that person is down.
AlCherry don't flaunt your background to me you are a nobody that should show Mike respect.
Agian Bigbuffer I feel for you, you complained in a courtious, fashion and showed respect at the same time.
I hope Mike resolves his problems and gets your gas cap out to you.
I have one and his work is first class.
Bigbuffer if you don't receive the cap or money back drop me a line and I will contribute/send a cheque for $20 AM. I owe Mike .

i couldnt put it better and as usual you are a stand up guy as well norv

If all of you tell me that you waited to get your gas door 6 to 12 months then it is OK I have a clear picture and I won't set any expectation and I will wait.
i waited about 12 months and after i got it and put it on the car i realized that it was well worth the wait and now that i can look back on it i also realise that i was being a little silly for getting upset for it taking so long as well but i have always been know for getting a little to impatient when something shows up late. its a bad habbit that i have and i am always trying to tell myself that.

Waiting a year for a product is not good business especially if he has been paid and already cashed the check. If the guy has personal problems that sucks but his problems doesnt get any better if he starts failing to provide what he has been paid to do and has business problems. Maybe if he got his business affairs in order it would help his personal problems.

I read his post calling the guy out for using his last name, hell his last name is ALL OVER his website. Whats up with that and whats up with him getting pi#$ed because the guy posted his name when its everywhere on his website? Seems only a shady business man would want to hide his name. In life you have two things and thats it, your name and your word. If you cant honor either one your not the kind of person I would want to deal with.

Seems Mike has a lot of people who are his friends and are quick to jump to his defense. I dont know him, I dont know anyone really on this forum but if my friend was screwing fellow forum members by taking their money and not providing the items in a timely fashion I too would have to call him out on it personal problems or not. If he has problems he needs to refund the money and make it right not keep it and keep putting them off with BS stories.

The guys original post was very nice considering. Money isnt as easy to come by for some and it really sucks paying for a part/service and getting stiffed on it. The guys original post really wasnt even asking for the money back all he was asking for was a simple response from Mike. Seems Mike has internet and can check the forum, seems if he can do that he still has a computer and still has a home. Maybe Mike needs to respond to the people he owes and let them know a definitive time he will get them their product or get them a refund.

Divorce sucks but Mike isnt the only person in the world who has had to deal with it. When I was going through mine I didnt suckle at the internet tit and fail to uphold my obligations business or otherwise.

My two cents... let the flaming begin.

the lids are not a full blown business, it's just a thing on the side, Mike wanted to provide a service to the Forum. From what I know the trouble started when the 1st batch of lids was sold out and he had a second batch machined and they were not up to his standards. Because the lids are machined on high $$$ tooling it takes some time for a new batch to be produced, the machine shop isn't going to halt big orders for a small batch of these lids. To keep it cost effective it has to be done when it's not really busy. I can assure you, with what the lids cost to manufacture you won't be able to make a living with producing these. I'm not saying that if you paid for one you shouldn't receive one, of course you should. However, those that make it out to be a full fledged business are wrong.

In fact, the lids initially were just simple lids made from sheet aluminium, then Mike decided to have them specially made in the fancy way they are now. those people that initially ordered a simple version got the updated one at no charge I think?

I apologize for making that assumption. From the looks of his website it appeared as a full fledged business.

Too many people chiming in to defend Mike. Mike should be able to defend himself. If the same senario, cash the check and not deliver the product, would be an Ebay deal; no one would be stepping up to plate and saying to wait a few more months. In my opinion, anyone who has paid should be refunded along with a nice letter. The letter should state that he'll contact them when the product is in stock and can be shipped without any delays. I have no idea on how much they cost and how many are buyers are still waiting. There was a thread of someone complaining because he received a radiator on a Saturday when he felt it should have been delivered on the Friday. These people have been waiting months and months and have be patient up untill they stopped receiving any information by the seller. I commend Mike for not allowing product to be sent out that was not up to his standard. I have a small computer shop and inform people that I will try to complete their work at a certain time; however, I will not let it go out the door until I feel it's right. I understand that Mike has a personal problem. That's not the end of the world. Pick up the pieces and move on. It's safe to say many of us went through similiar things, if not worse, and are still here. I did not get the feeling that the original poster of this thread was bashing anyone. From what I read into it, he would rather have the item then a refund.
Let's hear from Mike. It's his words that count. Let him say what his intentions are and lets see if he follows through. He has been called out a couple of times in regards to this matter.

Anyone who is waiting for their lids, and can't wait anymore, simple solution, ask for a refund, and trust me, Mike will be more than glad to send you a check. Trouble is, no one wants a refund, so that being the case, please, sit tight and let matters take care of themselves.

I know for a fact Mike offered one forum member his refund, and that was refused. So, I don't know what else to tell you, other than to sit tight. All this whining and moaning won't do jack squat, if anything it will just aggrivate matters.

On second thought, why don't ya all ask for a refund, rest your minds at ease, and when Mike is ready to go back into production, re-order. This seems the most sensible thing to do, rather than moan and groan in this thread.

Moderator, you are a man with wisdom. As I stated, I will not disturb Mike anymore asking for a status. I will not ask for a refund and I will sit tight till the day I get mine "c'est la vie". End of story. You can close this thread.

Littlejake & mandm1200,
WELL SAID. Thank you!

yellow73SB,
"make your own (gas lid)".
The process has already been started.
I ordered a billet chrome gas lid for my GMC Denali a couple of weeks ago for $40. This thing is extremely well made and has a pop up pressure release door. Really neat feature where all you do is press down on the lid and it releases the magnet, causing the lid to lift open approximately one inch to be opened. I thought, since I probably will never see the one I ordered from Big632, let's see if it works on my '82 Vette. The mounting plate is only 1/4" larger than the Vettes opening. So do I modify the Vette?
I wrote the manufacturer and inquired as to the dimensions of the other billet gas lid doors they sell. They are currently researching the numbers and when I find a match I will offer that info to the Forum Members for them to make their own decisions on whether to spend $40 and have a well made, chrome plated billet gas lid in a weeks time OR send their money to Mike @ Big632 and gamble with when they may receive their well made billet gas door???
Enough said, I'm done...

I'm kinda neutral here. Not a business? He "IS" a Supporting Vendor. He was on the forum tonight at 10:15 pm and has been several times. He, at a minimum, owes the people who have sent him the money for a lid, a response, whether by email or PM. I understand he is a stand up guy and have no doubt about that, but doing the right thing needs to be done...period.
