Default Horrible accident...

I was on my way up to work/school today and got on the New Jersey Parkway. I get on at exit 91, if that matters. I heard about some Horrible accident on the radio and braced for some heavey traffic. When i got on the parkway i saw the traffic to the left and the actual accident. It was a brand new C6, still had the dealer tag in the back window, which by the way was the ONLY thing left of the vehicle...

the other car was being extinguished, as it had cought fire. Want to see what is in the news about this because there wasn't even a front end of the vette anymore... nothing from about the driver's seat up

just wanted to let ya guys know, as we probly lost a vette owner. They shutdown that portion of the parkway for investigation... they ususally only do this with very seriouse accidents.. Keep your eyes open as i would like to know what acutally happened...

Be safe and pray for this poor person...

John

22-year-old Wildwood man dies in Garden State Parkway accident
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 04/24/06
BY JEAN MIKLE
TOMS RIVER BUREAU
BRICK — A 22-year-old Wildwood man was killed when the car he was driving south on the Garden State Parkway early this morning skidded across the median and struck a northbound vehicle head-on, state police said.

Trooper Edward Perrine of the State Police Sayreville barracks said the accident happened about 6:10 a.m., when Ryan Pearson, 22, who was driving a Chevrolet Corvette south in the left lane, suddenly swerved across the median into the northbound left lane.

The 22-year-old's vehicle collided head-on with an Acura being driven north in the left lane by William Picken III, 54, of Dover Township, Perrine said.

The Herbertsville Fire Company and Herbertsville First Aid both responded, along with MONOC paramedics, Perrine said. Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles, and both were
transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, by Alert Ambulance.

Pearson was pronounced dead at the hospital, Perrine said.

Picken suffered critical injuries in the accident, Perrine said.

All lanes of traffic on the northbound parkway were closed for about half an hour following the accident. Police then opened the right lane and shoulder for passing traffic.

The accident caused major traffic delays on the Parkway, with northbound traffic backed up for nearly 10 miles.

Perrine said police are seeking witnesses who may have been driving either north or south on the Parkway and saw the accident. Anyone with information on the accident should call Perrine at (732) 697-7604.

Hmm..22 year old male in a brand new vet with dealer tags on a wet road. I bet he mashed the go pedal and busted the back end loose and just lost the car.

driving in jersey sucks as it is. add in rain, and a young kid in a fast car, and your asking for trouble.
i take the parkway everyday to work, and have seen/heard of quiet a few bad ones out here.

22 years old. that sucks.

guess you have a 50% chance of being right, as well as 50% chance of being wrong. Im sure you meant no harm, but its comments like that, that keeps giving all vette drivers a bad rap. Without being there would be best not to try and second guess what happened, much less put a young vette driver at fault just because of age. I know the C5 can suffer from issues that can cause it to jerk you into the left hand lane without warning. Ive had it happen and Im 35. I would think the C6 could do the same

Can you elaborate as to what these "issues" are?

It was a black coupe from South Shore, it still had the blue temp tag on the rear. That about hte only recognizable piece on the car.

It's a horrible thing. I feel sorry for the families of both people involved.

No way... The only issues a new C5 / C6 (especially right off the lot) can have are in the head of the driver...
