**OFF TOPIC**

Sorry about the OT again, but something struck me funny. I signed up and posted a thread at
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=197202

about the truck resto i'm looking for a home for (in the other OT I did here). I posted pretty much same thread I posted here but with an introduction...and 31 min later moderator edits my post and basically says I have to pay a $25 1 year subscription fee to be able to post parts for sale.

I can tell you right now i'm not going to. I was just seeing if any enthusiast of that truck era would want first cracks at these parts before opening to public on ebay. It just struck me funny how you have to pay to say, "hey i have some parts for sale" on an enthusiast forum...anyone seen this on other boards?

We have a few different area's for, parts for sale, for Corvettes, which seem to be free of listing fee's. I every so often have a look to see what items are listed, and know that everything is for Corvette's. Since this is a Corvette fourm, my 0.2 is, must be Corvette parts. If it was open to anything this would become a free for all for anyone selling anything. (e-bay would go broke). I think the rules here are fitting for what this fourm is about.

On "the other" Vette forum you can't use the buy and sell forum section without being a paid member.

If you mean CAC that's not true.
You can't be a "vendor" to sell a line of products without signing up and paying as a supporting vendor same as on here, but if you are a forum member and have some parts for Corvettes that you want to list and sell you are allowed same as here on CF. They have the same "For Sale" sections you can post about a corvette or Corvettes parts you are looking to sell.
The differences on here and there are the same in that having a car to sell or some parts to sell every now or than is fine, but neither place wants you to be a "vendor" with a regular inventory or line of products advertised without being a paid supporting vendor.

Study the forum rules both on here and over there and you will see it explained a little better than I can.

Without paying up, you only have access to the basic areas of the forum (can't even look at pics!). I saw the home of the forum owner (and his boat) and decided I don't want to enrich him further, so I just lurk.

I was refering to VetteHeads. It's a great site but after a certain time you have to become a paying member. I don't have a problem with that, personally.
