I am new to the classic car scene and am restoring a 79. I will be looking to insure it. I was wondering what some good companies are and what I should expect to pay I am 24 and married with a spotless record. I currently have insurance through safeco. It wont be a daily driver so I figure the classic insurance will be the best w/mile restrictions.
I've got both of my classics thru Haggarty....... Cant see any reason they'd not take yours.
No limitiations....... Car needs to be garaged, needs to NOT be your primary work vehicle, and for some states they will issue an appendix related to track events and such. (and with no mile limitiations, at least for me, you can take to shows, out-of-state gatherings....etc, weekend group drives......and that can add up faster than you might think)

I was in your same situation about a year and a half ago when I went to insure my 76. I'm not married but do have another car and having the Vette as a secondary (not daily driven) car it was only around $120 extra. I asked the agent if she had the decimal in the right place. I was thinking more like $1200. My 0.02.

Agreed or stated value? There is a big difference.
I got quotes from Hagerty and Grundy today on my 3 C-3's. Agreed value, (total value) $115,000 for $717 annual with Grundy, $1107 with Hagerty. Time to move my policies...
I have my insurance for my 74 vert with Great American. Broker was Parish Heacock. About $160 for stated value of $18k. The one thing that I want to add to this thread is that I had a claim and they were brilliant. Service was great and they ended up paying me enough to fix damage, paint entire car, and buy a used 4-wheeler.

I think you need to be 25 for Hagerty but being married they may make an exception. I've found them easy to work with as they picked up two of my rare Honda motorcycles eventhough they aren't 25 years old yet.

Went to get quotes today for both my 69 & 78....my broker is shopping it around..huge reduction from my Progressive coverage...
Went with American Collectors Insurance (Google the name and you'll find them)... updated the "agreed value" to $30K (major frame-on restoration) so now its $186.50/year. They ask for clear photos to get started and every year you provide them with your odometer reading. As above with most policies, can't be your primary car but otherwise no extreme usage restrictions like some who insure collector-type cars (I also keep regular plates on mine to avoid the antique plate restrictions in my state). Unless the value you're looking to insure it for is a lot higher than they've seen they won't ask you for anything else to "prove" the agreed value (although I'm sure they would send someone out if a recoved theft was found, etc.). I found them as others in the '55-'57 Chevy club uses them (owned a '55 210 Sedan awhile back). Haven't had to submit any claims but others who have said they're a top notch outfit.
