I recently rebuilt my 1974 Quadrajet, and have been working on timing, idle, etc. I have discovered that I am getting little or no vacuum at the port in the side of the carb pictured below (Vacuum gauge reads 1 in/Hg). This port is attached to the Engine Solenoid, which in turn is attached to the Vacuum Advance on my distributor. Did I possibly install the wrong Throttle Body gasket? Thanks for any help, suggestions...
Well, I can't answer your question directly, but I can say that from decades of rebuilding carburetors, including One barrel sidedrafts, AFB's, WCFB's, Rochesters, etc., I always compare the "new" gaskets with the old ones I took out.
On MANY occasions, the carb kits are for multiple applications, and thus have different gaskets, which JUST MIGHT be missing an air bleed hole, etc. Chuck

No, really, I would buy an assembly manual (costs $30).. It lists through countless diagrams whatever is connected to whatever.. which reminds me.. did you NOT make a note of what goes back where when you dis-sassembled the Qjet?

Yes took pictures with the digital cam... I have memorized the emission vacuum hose routing section of the AIM, I've looked at it so many times...
I just started to work my way backwards through the hoses from the Vacuum Advance, to the carb... Guess I'll have to pull the carb again.

I matched it up with the one I pulled out. Maybe Bubba rebuilt it before I did, and it's been the wrong gasket since.

Big G is correct,..you won't see vacuum from there at idle,..it pulls it's signal from above the primary butterflies, which are closed (or almost) at idle.
There's another option on the lower-front driver's side of the carb that pulls vacuum full time.
Some use full-time (manifold) vacuum to run their vacuum advance and some use the ported set-up shown in your photo.
