Default C3 interior help!

Does anyone know if the rear compartment area is the same for a '69 corvette as it is in a 78-82? I just need to know if the rear fender wells have the same contour to them and so forth. I've only seen pictures but they look the same. Can anyone with a 68-70 vette and 78-82 vette please check for me? Thanks in advance!

Shoot an email to DeWitts. They do/did manufacture the parts and should be able to tell you.

I don't think they are the same. The earlier ones had 3 compartments and the later had 2 compartments. As far as the shape around the wheel wells I can't help you there.

The compartments are different, but I believe the opening in the floor pan and inner fenders are the same. I'll bet you can swap one style for the other.

Thanks for the replies! I 'm mostly interested in the area behind the compartments and the shape of the fender wells. I found a custom box for 6x9's that I would like to put in my '69. The box is made for a 78-82 but as far as I can tell the very rear section of the interior is the same for both.

I just went and measured both my 69 and 78 rear cargo area....both measure 36" between vertical (inside) fender well surface..you should be ok...

You can put a (3) door unit into the 79-82, but not the other way around. They both are the same size but the corner notch is different and the two door package has the handles molded into the trim. This handle will hit the top of the wall behind the sets.

Is that the $199.99 box from Mid-America or Eckler? If it is - and you store you T-tops in the cargo area - they will not fit with that box. Ask me how I know

Nope I'm looking at a different box. It is a 2 piece box that pressure fits into each rear coner so the speaker faces forward at an angle. They are $99.00 plus shipping.

These will sound better than the box ecklers, etc sells for $200 since the box they sell is sealed it will hinder the bass response of the speakers a lot. Just thought I should add that as well.
