The dust cover (deflector) has nothing to do with it leaking oil. Just poor rebuilding. This company's quality level went out the door the day he laid me off 17 months ago. But he still insisted I do all his rebuilding for him which I refused to do. They are as nice and helpful as can be when you are wanting to give them some money. Just don't try to get a refund.

I was thinking the same thing about the dust sheild. I had a look at my old diff unit and couldn't see how in the world that thing could cause a leak out the front. The only places I see it can leak are the actual seal itself and around the splines.

This may sound really crazy ..

I bought new trailing arm assemblies from them 2 years ago and NO problems at all. I did not send them my cores, I sold them on ebay.

I was actually very pleased with the prices and the quality of the parts.

Maybe they are best to buy from only - and send cores to someone else for $$$.

Hi Bill,
If you bought the trailing arms before november 2004 then I am the person who built them. Easiest way to tell is if the tip of the cotter pin is punched into the end of the spindle. Just on of the ways I identify work I have done. I still do rebuilding but not for them since november 2004.
GL,
I would have been the person rebuilding you differential if I was dumb enough to still be working there.

The Rearend That Took Me 9months To Get Back Right ,leaked Worse Than The First One I Sent Back. I Was Getting Old Waiting For These People. I Called Them 4 Times And E-mailed Them 10 Times .just A Lot Of Lip Service.i Will Just Eat It And Go Some Where Else Than Go Through All The Agravation. They Are The Worst Company I Have Ever Dealt With.

I bought my calipers from www.calipersonline.com for $49.99 ea. Stainless Steel sleeved after the core charge. I sent my cores to them first, paid up front, and they sent my new calipers out the same day that they received my old ones. They are a top notch company located in Michigan, as for Mark.

I bought 4 calipers from fastcorvette, waited 4 months for them to arrive. They blamed the delay on me asking them to paint the calipers red instead of black!

Oh, when they did arrive, they'd forgotten to include the brake pads I also ordered!

Fastcorvette are no longer on my Christmas card list...

I agree with Megladon, and I think this has been asked on this forum before,
"Why can't we have a list of undesireable vendors on this list so that others don't get burned ? "
It should be based on actual experience, by the person who experienced the problem first hand, no hearsay or second parties.
We have a sponsors list which is sort of a way of recommending vendors, so why can't we have a list of vendors who are NOT recommended based on actual problems experienced by members of this forum? This would benefit the forum members as well as the GOOD vendors.
Kurt

sounds like they have a major cash flow problem, & all you guys sending them cores are reducing his overhead. He now never ever needs to buy a core saves $150 to $200 off his brake restoration costs, sounds like a real loser to me ...........& anyone who waits SIX MONTHS FOR ANYTHING is a saint, you have 10x's the patience i do !!!

After I had been waiting for 2 and a half months for my calipers and brake line kit from fastcorvette, I had sent several e-mails asking what was going on. After over a week, I finally got a reply which was:

I apologize for the delay in emailing you.
The guys are painting your calipers today and they should ship tomorrow.
I will email you when they do along with your UPS tracking number.
Have a great day!
I'm waiting for items I paid for months before and they're off playing race car driver!!!

I ended up threatening to contact PayPal and file a complaint and to post a message in here about them. I didn' realise that they were a$$holes to EVERYONE not just me or I would have posted this sooner!

I only went with them originally as their price was reasonable without me needing to send my cores, which would cost a mint from Saudi. If I ever need to buy calipers again, I wouldn't even contemplate fastcorvette!!

So we're back to asking for Forum member feedback before going with one of the lesser known vendors. Like so many others have already written, I'm going with vendors whose reputation has never been questioned. Spend a dollar or two more, maybe, but will save much more than that in aggravation cost.
