i took my 33 gal van and filled it up today, and it took 34.465 gallons at $94 to my astonishment. Hmmm a lite went off in me head, 33gal tank took 34 1/2gal. now i know it holds 33gal cuz i installed it 2yrs ago and then preceeded to fill it up and it took 33 gal's. so not only am i getting legally ripped off at the gas station i'm also getting ripped off. i figure i had at least 3 gal's in my tank when i pulled in so i figure i got vacuumed for approx 5gal at $2.73 a gal. so i immediately called and filed a complaint w/weights and measures. am waiting for a reply. anything else i can do? i've got the reciept of the transaction.
The same thing happened to me years ago, so now I always stop the pump at 10.00 to check it, then continue. WB

Gasoline shrinks when its cold. Fuel pumps can be temperature corrected to account for this.
Therefore, its possible to get more than 33 gallons of gas into a 33 gallon tank. You'd have to check the pump.
