Hey,
How do you get ignition noise that is coming in over the antenna? I have an MSD 6AL box. I don't have the alternator whine that you can get rid of with a capacitor but a tick tick tick coming over the antenna. I bought one of those MP3 FM transmitters and want to get rid of this tick. It also comes in over when listening to the FM stations. Would I use a cap on the antenna lead or somehow isolate the power lead going to my 6AL? I've never had antenna noise like this before. BTW, my antenna plate has a great ground. I just got finished measuring it.
Thanks
Another thing you might want to look at is running your audio wires away from your power wires. I had some ignition interference issues and re-routed all power wires down one side of the car and the audio down the other, doing this solved them all. I picked up this tid bit from the install manual of a Kenwood head unit.

It's not from the alternator or power but the antenna. I can pull the antenna lead and it goes away. It doesn't do it when I am listening to a tape. I am going to get an antenna filter I found on-line at Crutchfields and see if that helps.
Thanks guys!!!
I can't believe I finally found someone with a similar problem. I just installed a new cd player in my 81 and am having the noise problem. Mine noise is a static that changes with rpms. I have tried different runs on power lines and noise filters and still the same. I'm now going to disconnect the antenna to see if that is the culprit. I have already cleaned the ant. ground and main ground from the battery. I am now in the process of changing plugs and wires. I'm thinking its going to end up being a leaking plug wire, although I have run the engine in the dark and can see no arks.
