The boy, the girl, and the vette all made it home safe and sound. What little damage there is should buff out....j/k. Wifey and I have gotten some great laughs from all you guys and your posts. I'll have to do this all again in six years for my second son...

This is my short opinion in terms of an equation:

C3 Pace Car + Son + Girlfriend + Night = Grandfather;

where Night Hours > 6:00 pm and < than 6:00 am

Speaking of proms - I've got 5 years until I have to worry about my 1st kid's prom. Are they as wild as they were in my day ('83)? The reason I ask is, my prom was an all-nighter at a hotel with the regular prom dance in one of the banquet halls. But, the entire 6th floor was individuals who had gotten rooms for parties...Needless to say, it was unforgettable for me. That's what's got me worried!

I did see on the local news last year, how they have really cracked down on drinking, even when limos were involved. Geez, call me immature or old fashioned, but duh, it's a rite-of-passage to get liquored up at prom. Or it used to be anyway... I don't know, whaddya think?

i agree.. i just had my prom a year ago and i had a blast.. needless to say i was sober as a judge( that was wierd usually i would be the drunkest guy at the party ) but that was due to the fact that i was driving my Vette Shirley.. never wanna risk that for a shot or two... but i got lay'd so its all good ...ahh. boy.. GOOD TIMES!!!
and for the record.. i dont think id let my kid take my car to his prom.. not with the intentions i have for it at least..

Hopefully the night won't end up like this. My daughter was driving to an after-prom party and rolled the wagon at 70 mph on the highway. Luckily she only received a scalp laceration and her date was unhurt.

One of the few good things about letting a kid drive a vette is no back seat. I don't know how in heck he is gonna make you a grandpa with that vette!

At my son's prom they are almost going to breathalyze and pat down the kids as they come in. I think there will be a receiving line which will include a police officer and the school principal. They will have to greet each... soberly.. Seriously, the girls are going to be closely checked out by a female. Apparently one method in prior years was the girls would strap a flask to their leg (garter belt?) under their long gowns.

10 years from now they will have this conversation thats starts out like...

Remember when my dad gave us the vette for prom.

My car experience for prom was a flat tire in an 81 firebird on the side of the highway...

HA! I locked the keys in the damn vette. Pulled up in my girlfriends driveway to pick her up and left the car and ac running so it would not be hot when she got in. BIG MISTAKE! My hand must of hit the door lock button when I got out. Had to call my stepfather to bring me another key. We missed the whole football game.
