Guys....Help me out here, there is something I must be missing. I just picked up a recent Motor Trend (maybe it was a Road and Track???) mag that compared the new LS7 ZO6 to Hennesy Viper, and a few others and it had it's 1/4 mile time as 12 sec flat. I happend to be watching Dream Car Garage a week or so ago and they showed the Z06 on the 1/4 mile. They did not mention the elapsed time for some reason, but I saw the track sign at the finish light up with a 12.3. If this is anywhere near correct, I wouldn't be running around flappin my jaw. If they want to keep talken we might have to sic Oliver on them.

Bullshark, The only thing you are missing is that it takes some driver skill and a little practice for even a good driver (getting used to the car) to drive a 505 hp 6 spd on street tires into the 11s. At Englishtown one of the regulars got a new ZO6. He also has a heavily modded C5 that runs in the 8s. I believe his first pass in the new Z he spun badly and was in the 13s!!
I do think the whole argument is silly. I don't even think ZL-1 should be in the conversation. How can you talk about a car with a production run of ... two. And the L-88 was not meant to be raced with factory exhaust. But if you allow tires and exhaust on the L-88, what mods do you permit on the new ZO6? But if you must, go for it!
The reason why i ask is there was some dude that showed up in C3 a few years ago with picts of himself in the same sort of outfit. Needless to say it created quite a stir.
I'd love to have a new Z06 but i can't afford it. I have more than enough cash in the bank to buy one so i guess i can afford it. I'd rather use the money for other things or i'd rather just have the money for a rainy day, so i guess that means i really can't afford it.
I hear ya! My whole life until last few years was about finding a reasonable car, and trying to do some bucks-down improvements to wring the most out of it. My own first 'vette was a C4, but I'd still love to eventually try one of every 'flavor' (C1 through C6) before I'm done... so it's two down and four to go, unless I move too slow and C7 comes along while I'm not looking!
The L88,ZL1,L89 are and always will be compared to when the latest vettes get more and more powerful. These vettes are legends so it is only natural for people to compare the new Z06 to them.I am a huge C3 guy but,the new Z06 is one bad mother....

Oh, for crying out loud, GM built a lot more than two ZL-1s. They built two that were invoiced for retail sale, but there were a number built for GM insiders and as test vehicles.

That doesn't exactly look like an optimal spot to pull cold air...
