Default protecto plate

Just purchased a 72 and am looking for the protecto plate like the old GMs have on the firewall. There is a data plate up in front of the drivers door only data on this tag is c06 404 trim 988 color. Is there another tag on the car? Thanks

hey ..

I'm pretty sure the tag in the door is the only data tag on a 72'.

The Protecto-Plate (POP) is in a brochure and is metal, was provided to the 1st owner at purchase.

I'm not familiar with the old GM's. Don't Mopars have a data plate in the engine compartment? The CO6 on your trim tag is the body build date: The 6th day of the 3rd month of production. For the 1972 model year, C is October 1971. 988 is Steel Cities Gray (What color is it now?) and 404 trim is black leather. Nice combo!

1972 is the first vette model year that includes engine info in the vin, so your vin will tell you what the original engine was. That's about all you are gonna get!

Most people threw the POP out after the 12,000 mile warranty....
