Default JB Weld - will it work?

Two things on my son's 75:

First, the neck of the radiator is missing the overflow nipple. There's just a hole there. Can I use JB Weld to put a tube in for the overflow hose? Will it hold up to the pressure from the heat? Is there a bolt-in tube I can use? Something with an o-ring similar to the trans oil fittings.

Second, the driver's side headlight actuator nipple broke off flush. Can JB Weld be used to put it back on? I don't think this is as big a deal since it's just using vaccuum as long as I get an air tight seal.

Thanks.

Best to get the overflow soldered on. Any radiator shop should do it cheap.
This assumes an original brass style radiator ... aluminum will be tougher to fix ... need someone to TIG it.
I wouldn't trust this to epoxy.

The vacuum actuator ... sure. Like you state, it's not as big a deal if it breaks off.

Let me add my $0.02.
JB weld is some of the strongest s**t i have ever seen. I have used it to fix stuff that i thought was useless and its still holding strong.
fantastic stuff.. not good to fill up holes on your car, but great in sticking metals together for good... !!

Yes, you can use it...but use the JB Industro Weld. It's got a higher heat temperature rating than the regular JB Weld.

I've used it to repair corrosion on the thermostat housing for our Jag; hot radiator coolant runs over that every time we drive it. $10 and roughly a week's worth of applying, sanding, and shaping the Industro Weld, versus buying a new housing at $110...And it's STILL holding without a problem.

Default Be sure before you use.

The windshield washer nozzles on my car (73) had come loose a while back. On close examination it appears they may have been factory soldered to the u clip on the wiper arm. I tried various adhesives with no luck. Soldering them would have required paint removal, heat and would muck up the appearance of the tip. I used some JB weld on them. After it set I rubbed some dark gray paint into the area for a oxidized solder look. Not only has it held held rock solid tight for a year but it looks factory. Never use any more than you need and always clip/clamp and resist the temptation to "check" it too soon. The only negative to JB weld is the process is nearly unreversible so be sure you want it there because the only way I know to remove it is grind it off.

Hehe...There are 2 sayings that I have about useful tools:

"There is NO problem that can't be solved by using duct tape."

and

"If there's something that is stuck and shouldn't be, use WD40. If there's something that isn't stuck and SHOULD be, use duct tape!"

Oh, one word of warning when working with JB Weld: Wear gloves. My father managed to JB Weld his fingers together and ended up having to use an Exacto knife to cut a little bit of skin off of his fingertip to get them apart. I shudder to think what would have happened if he'd discovered he had JB Weld remnants when he went to the bathroom...
