Default vibrating/bouncing headlights

during my ride last night i noticed that my drivers side headlight
was bouncing all over the place and rattling like crazy on every
bump i would hit.

pulled it apart today and was prepared for some part to have
rusted off with no way to fix it.

i was very happy(????) to find that 3 of the 4 springs had rusted and broken

even found what was left of one down inside the front bumper area

and everything else looks to be very solid with just a surface rust.

made 3 springs out of one large screen door spring that i had to hold me for now.

works perfect and no more rattle

Those bushing on the side will also make the vibrate. I think they have nylon insert that just wear out.

Ingenuity at work. Now, you can pull it all apart when the new stuff comes in and do a little cleaning up. Just have to wait for winter.

yes going to get the kit with the bushings and redo them either during vacation or wait till late next fall.
either way the screen door springs are working good for now.

I found a spring in my driveway just like yours in the 2nd picture.

Now I know where it came from .

Hey! I wonder if that's what fell off my car today!! ? !? Something seemed to, but I doubled back and couldnt find anything on the road, and I didn't see anything obviously missing on the car... i will check the headlight springs!

back in 1980 before i could afford a decent motorcycle i had an old cb350 honda and the only thing that held it together was bailing wire
and duct tape
all my friends call me McGyver because of the temp fixes and weird ideas i have come up with, the key though is to fix it right as soon as you get the chance/parts where a true BUBBA says
