what wears in the power window motor? is it the plastic gear that the worm gear drives? mine look ok but needed grease. is the driven gear and the part that drives the regulator all one part? or does something wear in that area?
I took my motor out of my 77 and the teeth that drive the regulator were shot. The motor was week so I thought I could take it apart and clean the brush's and armature. After taking the motor apart to see what was wrong with it, I realized that there was no way to get the armature back in place. At the end of the armature is a ball that is held in with one way fingers. I don't have a welder, but the only way I could see to get it in was to cut the motor apart.
I bought a rebuilt motor from Mad and when it arrived it did not have the driven gear in it... Dumb mistake number two for me. This left me with a rebuilt motor but still no gear to drive the regulator with. So, I ordered the gear next and installed it. Window works fine now.
