Does anyone have information on '71 model year production numbers? Specifically how many big block roadsters were built. How many of those were auto verses 4 speed. Is there any trim code info as well? Thanks, Jim.

Problem is, there are no combo numbers available. So will just have to do some math ratios to get a idea of what might have been.

Well if ya take ratios, and the rarest option ya got, you can sorta see the rarity of your particular vehicle.

The rarest option I have is the C08 Vinyl Covering for Auxillary Hardtop. There were 832 corvette convertibles made with this option, that was a $63 option. Whoa big spender.

But that means I have one of 832 1971 Corvettes, made like mine. And since the vinyl hardtop was usually a high optioned car, and mine doesnt have tilt/tele, a usual high option, or power windows, mine MIGHT be even rarer.

But ya never know. We'll probably never know. GM spent alot of money looking in warehouses looking for old records of the Vette when the Corvette Museum project was being constructed. Back then, they just threw out the records after a while.

But they could not find production numbers for our year. So, I can only theorize I have one of 832.

 

I also had the AM FM Multiplex Stereo radio. The original radio is gone, but I found the Multiplex unit still behind the dash.

 

convertibles at 33%, manual transmissions at 52%, big blocks were 25%, as an average.

 

There's new talk of records that might be found.

My 71 is highly optioned with the vinyl hardtop, am/fm stereo, tilt/tele column, pwr steering/brakes/windows, air, alarm, leather, and the rarest of options for a convertible, custom shoulder belts with only 677 installed.

There are alot of these pages like above. There are NO records as to how many cars EXACTLY like your were made. All you can do is get close. Find your build sheet. That will tell you what the car came with.
