Sales numbers were dropping for the vert and there may have been some rollover safety regulations / lawsuits that helped convince all manufacturers to drop them. I think the 76 Eldorado was the last vert of that era.

It was a vast rightwing conspiricy perpetuated by Ralph Nader and the Dirt munching Druids of the We-know-better-than-you-whats-good party. I think there was a lawyer involved...and Tipper Gore.

Rightwing?

Ralph Nader and the Dirt Munching Druids sounds like a group Dick Clark would introduce on American Bandstand.

I guess I should learn how to spell convertible.

Decline in sales. Beginning in '69, coupes outsold convertibles. GM beancounters took a look at the cost savings involved with convertible production versus costs and successfully lobbied for getting them discontinued.

History? Unknown, but they're a good looking wheel cover. Option P01/P02. For a while there, they were the only optional wheels for Corvette. They mounted over standard rally wheels.

1981 the first Corvette to use a computer.

The 1981 Corvette had two cooling fans to increase engine power.

Don't bet the farm on no factory black for 70-76. While black wasn't listed as a available color, I've read accounts which say it could be had.

1980 California cars with the 305CID had computers.

1980 L-82s had two fans.

1979 L-82s with Air had two fans.

Fiberglass mono rear springs replace the steel spring in 1981 for the first time, lower weight and improving handling and ride.
