Default Upcoming Weekend Projects

Well... The Reflectex got here yesterday. Now, I gotta decide if I want to take the vette offline for the weekend and get that stuff placed nicely under the carpet and wherever else I can place it.

I started pulling some of the carpet to see how things looked underneth and found carpet glue that looks like bondo! So I spent most of last night just scraping the loose stuff that I could reach and looking around under the dash and behind the console. Definately gonna be a 3 (or 4) day project.

Got the reflectex in yesterday and got everything back together. I only pulled carpet to the seats, pulled the console, sill plates, emergency brake cover and left and right kickboards. I used right at a half a roll of the reflectex and got the floors and console area covered. Everything went back to gether good and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Really cooled things down well! Where before the console would heat alot and the floor would get uncomforable, now is very bearable. Really worked well for my Summer quick fix. I now plan on pulling all carpet, front to back and getting a new set this winter. While do that, I plan on a complete cover and glueing of it front to back. Also want to rewire a lot and rescrew most everything with proper sizes throughout.

Gonna fish for smallmouth for the first time this year on Saturday. Will report on fish caught and cottonmouths avoided. <>< ><<<>

Good Day fishing on Sat. See pics here! 16 total fish and one very small cottonmouthAnybody else got big plans this holiday weekend?

Yep, nothing Vette related though.

I have 3-4 trees which need brought down and I hope to get 1-2 this weekend. Plus cut the grass and have a bonfire-cookout-picnic coed tent sleep over for the track team. What I let myself get talked into.

That's a weekend and a half! Will you be staying up all night with a shotgun between the co-ed tents?

The wife is measuring the windows as we speak to buy new blinds. She says she will handle it, but I'm saving some time for that too just in case.

Oh yeah... I found 2 shiny new looking split rings under the carpet last night. I wonder where they are supposed to go...

HA! I think I'm biting off more than I should. I'm going to try to only do next to the firewall and under the console. BUT.. I see other things happening too. One thing leads to another. Maybe this weekend AND next!

Default Wish Me Luck

With any luck, I'll have my '70 vette running for the first time in 2+ months !

I just finished the engine rebuild, installation, new steering components and the new radiator came today! Woo-hoo! I have a new radiator mount and crossmember frame to go with it.

I will continue sanding the vette ... and working on a new project,
a 14ft Elgin stainless steel boat that needs restoration. She needs all
new wood. Once done, the bass will be running from me.
Oh yeah - finish shimming my passenger door and some 'glass
work around the opening.

Hoping to get the brakes re-assembled and back onto the 72, Hoping to get the vacuum booster off and painted too. Might get around to start fitting the Tile/Tele column from the 79 into the 72.

The wife's Volvo threw 3 Check Engine codes yesterday so that might impede progress on the Vette a little but I won't have a radiator until Tuesday so I couldn't be running anyway.

I also bought a carb and manifold for the 72 but only the carb showed up today and it had some damage so it looks like the Vette gods are still overseeing everything.

Default Oem?

I pulled some more carpet last night and found that there is another set of carpet under the passenger side! The under carpet is BADLY ruined of course. It seems that one thing always leads to another...

More OEM! 2 pieces of 2x2 snapped off, not even sawed, taped together with duct tape under my parking brake console to keep it from collapsing under arm weight.

Whats the word on that Reflectix insulation? I'm curious as to how well it works, looks thin.
Anyone use any spray-on applications?
Let us know on the end results.
Good luck.

I'm just going to do the front under the dash and carpet for now and under the consile as best I can. It seems like pretty stuff. I will hopefully finish and report before the weekend is out.
