I don't really care for the Firestones. I had the BFG's on my car for years. I like them I had 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear, which is a great looking combination. I feel the 255's don't look right on the front. However when I went with 16" wheels I bought some Dunlop's 8000's on the rear. Wow, what a difference in grip. The BFG's just are so, old in terms of rubber and grip......I am still sure about the 16"'s but I can't go back to the BF Goodrich Radial TA's again!!
Good luck I spent alot of effort finding the right tire. Actually I want a 255/55/16 ... but nobody makes one!! Hence so now I am thinking 17"s but they are NOT old school for me....
255's look fine on the front. They don't look the slightest bit out of place on my 77. I like the Firehawks...I had a bad experience with a massive sidewall crack in a BFG tire several years back (on a different vehicle). The 77 was out in the rain yesterday, and the Firehawks handled it just fine.
Now what if you added the Goodyear Eagle GTII to the mix? When I'm just about ready to go for the Firehawk Indy 500's, get hit with the nastalgia pain as to how could I ever think about putting anything but a GY on our '78 pace car driver.
