Custom Vette Gadgets
Show me your short-cuts and contraptions and save me from some head scratchin.
Carol Shelby / John Lingenfelter watch out!!! I'm on the loose with a welder and imagination!
-Below is my answer to a torn-up #4 body mount. Original lower reinforcement turned to dust and body bushing punctured fiberglass.
Installed new lower reinfocement then mocked up this bracket to sit inside fiberglass pocket inside of car to squeeze body and give regitity.
Will fill with polyurethane filler and rivit between lower reinfocement and upper reinforcement that attached to hatch pillars.
-Also included my custom body lift that allowed me to lift the body just enough off the frame to replace the body bushings. Was able to paint some of the top of the frame too. Unbolt all body bushings then insert top of flattened pipe inbetween frame and door sill supports. There is a long upsidedown metal "U" that runs the length of the side and sits ontop of the frame. Insert this contraption into that "U" for support and pump up the jack. Start at front and work your way back. Worked nicely, just make sure its sturdy.
- This is my high-tech engine stand made out of very rare material. Since the trans is out I needed to support the rear of the block and the coke-bottle jack was occupied in lifting the body.
