Does your insulation have foil on both sides? I just picked up a bunch of the "Thermo-Tec" stuff...it has foil on one side and padding (sound block?) on the other. Which side goes down?
Nice job Gator... I certainly hope it works as good as the Dynamat which I covered just installed exactly like your (every square inch) . I must report: I have no heat issue now The deck lid looks great! Keep up the good work!!!!
I just put in new carpet and before hand used Reflectix. The car is far cooler and much quieter. I am amazed how much it helped, and the stuff is far cheaper than Dynomat, etc. I covered most of the interior space, taped it together. It molds very nicely and was quite easy to work with. I would reccomend it, and it is around $24 a roll at Menards. A roll almost did the whole car; about 3' short.

That will go foil side down - the point of heat insulation is that the foil simply reflects the heat waves. Reflectix has foil on both sides.
Looks awesome gator! Just finished up heat and sound insulation (and new carpet...and F-body seatbelts...etc ) myself! I'll warn ya - getting the console pieces back in is gonna be a pain

I used fatmat everywhere but the firewall , and will cover everywhere with reflectix. what is the trick for the console? the fatmat is a little thinner than dynamat that might help. I also have the F body seat belts ready to install.

I actually used Damplifier Pro, which is pretty thin. It's the Reflectix that causes the biggest problem getting the console on. There's no real "trick" to it, you just need to muscle it in there - definitely try to enlist the help of a friend to hold it in place while you put in the screws. I ended up having to remove some of the Reflectix anyway.
The F-body seat belt install is pretty simple - if you want to thread the belt through the seat backs, pop off the plastic cover from the buckle, use two crescent wrenches to pry the buckle itself apart and have someone remove the bar in the middle with a pair of pliers. Make sure that you install the seat belts correctly in regards to the bracket that is bolted to the floor, ensuring the belt won't be twisted.
Looks great. However, you'll find you will have to trim some of the reflectix to get the center console (w/carpet) reinstalled. May also impact the dash and misc. components. Finally, be sure all the electrical is shielded or it's short-circuit time!

My $.02...but what do I know?
Good Luck
yes I checked the wiring insulation carefully. but it should make a huge difference in heat
