I would go to the guy and ask him to call his painter right then and there and make the arrangement for the repair. If he can't get ahold of the guy then make him an settlement offer of say $600, take it to your guy and bite the bullet on the rest. If he doesn't go for that I'd insist he make good on the repair or we'd go to court and it would cost him a lot more.

Do this. Have a buddy go in and pose as a customer that needs some major repair work done to his car. Something that's highly profitable to a mechanic. I don't know let's say a complete rebuild or something. Have him go as far as telling the mechanic (aka joker) he wants to have him do the work, negotiate a price and settle on a day to return with the car. About that time you stroll up with your chair and big sign saying you got screwed. When leaving, your buddy strolls past you and has a conversation for a couple of minutes. Buddy then turns around and returns to the joker to let him know that he won't do business with someone that screws his customers. He'll think you just took a bunch of money out of his pocket. He'll won't be a happy camper. Score one for the good guys.

True story. In my younger days as a lot boy at a Pontiac dealership, some fella bought a new car and it ended up being in the shop something like 50 out of the first 75 days he had it. He tried to negotiate with the owner/pontiac for a new one through normal channels. Said it was a "lemon". Had no luck so he made a big sign shaped as a lemon, painted it yellow, and paraded it on the outskirts of the dealership. The owner left skids marks trying to get out there to talk to the guy. 5 minutes later he was sitting in the owner's office. Not sure what happened after that but at least he got somebody's attention.

I bet that's pathetically interesting. I feel sorry for the judge.

That sure would be nice if a lawyer did that, but the chances are slim. They learn very early on not to give out freebies. What you are asking is not much different than asking another body shop to repair it for him for free.

I think the idea of having a sign sounds like a feasable thing. Find out first what you are allowed to do and then do it.

Default fish stew

what you do is catch some fish, pretty much any kind
then you put them in a 5 gallon bucket with just a little bit of water
and cover it with a tight lid. now put this "fish stew" in a nice hot place
for about 4 weeks.
now get yourself a painters mask "your gonna need it" and a sealed container.
scoop out a container full of the decaying liquid, then sneak over and dump the whole cup right down below his windshield in to the fresh air duct area.

did you ever see that episode of seinfeld where the valet stinks up his car and the stench wont come out?

this concoction will do the same only this smells 10 times worse

Unless they're admitted in AGVI's state, that's a NASTY can o' worms.

Send him 2 free tickets to the town movie theater (compliments of the theater)with the condition that they must be used on a certain date for a certain time. Then , go to the movie theater's parking lot after the movie has started (at least 1/2 hour)and have your way with his car. Rock Miracle Paint stripper goes on with a blob here and a blob there. When he rinses off, so does his paint. Then you can laugh as HEtries to get an appointment with his painter! Just be careful not to get any on your skin as it burns like crazy.

You probably wont use this one but it works. Get an 8 ball of coke and spend 40bux on a .22 handgun and stick them up under one of his bumpers then call the police. Tell them you were picking up your car and saw he damaged it then argued and he pulled the gun on you. Tell em you saw him put the gun under his car somewhere then hang up. They will find the gun and coke and if he is close to a school it will be even worse for him. Also bag the coke up into a bunch of small baggies so he cant plead it was for personal use.
