Default Is anyone else actively restoring?

I am mid project on a full restoration of a 1975. It really seems like no one else is restoring, that everyone else has finished? Or maybe this is just some neurotic idea i have. But i think what gets me the most is that the local corvette club requires you to have a running corvette in order to join. Ergo to get any help, we can't even join the club for help.

Ok rant over

Beyond that rant, i did just put on the rear leaf spring, plan on installing the rear shocks tomorrow. Then it is on to front suspention this weekend. And i should have a rolling chassis by the end of the month. Then brakes, fuel lines, and time to put the motor and tranny in.

That doesn't sound like much of a Corvette club. My experience with Corvette clubs is most members do not work on their cars with the exception of adding cup holders. This forum will be far more helpful and the dues are much better.

There are always people on this forum doing some phase of work on a C-3. Recently I bought a 79 on which I am upgrading the IRS with new parts and planning on swapping the trans to a 2004R. I will post some pics after I am farther along. Don't assume no one is working on a car just because they are not talking about it. BTW...good luck on the restoration of your 75, it was a very good year!

Exactly what I was thinking. I wouldn't want anything to do with that club.

I am in the middle of a resto-mod frame off on my 80. The frame, suspension, brakes, engine rebuild, reare end rebuild, and trans rebuild are finished. Working on the body now. Here are a few pics for you.

I'm also restoring/modifying my '79. I started my project August of last year and I'm hoping I will have the car running by the end of this month (but it will probably be more like next month).

Below are some pictures of the mess that once was a Corvette

I'm only waiting to get my engine back from the builder (hopefully this week or next) then everything else should just fall together.

If you need motivation, visit a local car show. It will do wonders!

Hello all, I'm in the middle of rebuilding my engine and front end in my '75. These pics are old, the engine bay is now (almost totally) painted, automatic transmission has been sold and M21 is waiting for installation. (Iwanted to go to 6-sp but those are still too expensive to me here...)

In the second pic the engine is just "show" build. There is nothing inside, but it looks almost finished... Only thing that was left from the old engine is block and even that one has been milled. Great fun, but I do not have enough time, so the project takes time...

I too am in the process of a frame-off restoration on my '82. I purchased it 1 1/2 years ago with 82,000 miles. Things went slow at 1st mainly due to rusted frozen parts and buste knuckles. Every nut, bolt, and rivet has been removed and will be replaced with new.
Just got the frame back from sandblasting and powdercoating (Dark Charcoal Metallic w/ a clear coat finish) and the 700R4 tranny is out being completely rebuilt. This week I have been installing the VB&P's Full Performance Plus suspension system nd spreader bar.
I bought a small sandblast cabinet and powder coating kit. Man, the brackets have turned out SWEET. Today I stripped the front spindles from the old control arms. Hoping to get those sand blasted and powder coated in the next few days.
I have a new ZZ4 crate motor loaded with billet parts, Jet-Hot sterling sidepipes and headers with STB Baffles, Aluminum radiator w/dual-spal fans, 18" X 10 ZO6 chrome rims, plus LOTS of other goodies awaiting there placement in their new home in the Vette.
I will post many a picks when I find some time!

THANK YOU to all who have posted Tech. Articles on this Forum. You have been a GREAT wealth of information and guidance!!!

I'm now on weekend 4 and almost ready for paint. Then the new interior gets put in.

Everyone here is great and helps out as much as they can. weather you just getting started, half way done, or all finished all questions are given great respones imo.

In the middle of a frame off myself! Have the running rolling chassis done with side exit headers on it. Doing the last details on the underside of the body so I can put it on the frame and start the bodywork and fitting the doors and front clip.

I am actively restoring my 71 piece by piece. Everytime a piece breaks, I restore it with a new one.

I'm about 2/3 done with a frame off restoration. I have all of the mechanical done and am working on the paint. I just sprayed primer this past weekend. Block sanding is next.

After the paint the only thing left is the interior and electrical. I am hoping to finish before my one year aniversary of the project in late October.

You are not alone!
