Default inspection help

I just bought a 75 corvette from my father in law, and could use some help getting it up to snuff for inspection. The horn isn't working. I could not find a blown fuse, but couldn't find one labeled "horn" either. If it is a relay, can someone point me in the right direction? After replacing a couple of lights, the electrical seems fine except for the horn. Also, is a cat converter necessary to be inspected? It hasn't been inspected in vermont for a couple of years. My questions are probably easy to most of you guys, but I gotta start somewhere. Thanks for the help...

When I bought my '77 with TnT, I had a non-functional horn. It turns out the horn contacts were totally shot (held together with a tie-wrap [ps. thanks bubba]).

Since that appears to a common point of failure, you might want to consider testing the horn circuit by putting a hot lead to the horns to see if the sound. If so, you may want to try to the contacts in the steering wheel. Not to say the relay can't be bad ...but this is just what experience I have to offer.

Check the relay first. It is often bad. On my 75, it was right by fuse box and the internals had disintegrated. FWIW.

Good Luck!

Buy the '75 assembly instruction manual (AIM). You'll find it's worth the cost. Your horn problem is likely to be only the contact.

I don't regret buying the assembly manual for my car ...nice complement to the service manual.
