I had a thought about converting an 81 to a chrome bumper front and rear keeping the bubble back window. Has any one seen this done? Refinement of late C3 w/style of early C3. or ?
If you took a French poodle to University Medical Center and asked them to surgically implant the head and tail off a German Shephard onto the poodle's body. It would still be a poodle.......just weird looking.
wow and i was getting flamed like crazy for wanting to put a 73 front clip on my 81...to each his own, do what you want its your car man! just dont expect much support, i know i didnt get it, so i said screw it, and left it alone
Mod81-- will we be seeing your car at one of the Morris Cruise Nights this summer? I try to make them but missed the one last weekend because it looked like rain all day.
I guess thats one of those "looked better in your head" deals
You got it. of course the custom rear bumper, fender flares, jacked up rear and paint job dont help much. looks OK from the front but I dont think I'll be going that way with mine.
I saw a red one years ago.I don't know what he started with but it was vary nicely done.No gooffy paint just red, bubble window, chrome bumbers.I liked it.Best of both worlds and most if not all non vette owners didn't have a clue.Take the one in the pics, lose the paint and the flairs and it ain't bad.Might have come to pass with GM anyway if the federal gov. hadn't stepped in with all their regulations on crash safety witch we all know was the ins. companys way of reducing costs. After all they were 5 mile an hour bumpers.Who gets hurt at that speed?

I'd like to see some pics of a clean one with the right stance. This conversion would not be cheap. would it kill the value of the car?
I agree, it would be pretty costly to adapt all of the chrome to a bubble window car. but........
If you did it the other way around like the yellow/brown car is, it wouldn't cost near as much.
That looks like a '72 that someone took and installed a big back window.
The picture is very old, look at the tread on those old Radial T/A's. that pattern hasn't been around since the late 70's when the '72 wasn't too expensive to buy and customize by adding the "new" bigger back window.

maybe...i dont think its a show worthy car...i took it a few times in highschool because my dad finally said ok...I'm 21 now, and its officially mine now, and i'd really like to do a little resto work before i take it down there...and you didnt miss anything but a bunch of yellow dodge rumble bee's and early 90's stangs, so dont worry...it really went downhill. I lived in morris all my life untill about 2 mths ago we moved over towards ottawa. It was great when i lived there, and now its just lowered s-10's and rice. My friend's dad had a 71 427 down there though, and that was sweet as well as 61 with an ls1 motor and c5 wheels! other than those 2...NOTHING to look at
Eckler's used to sell a kit for this modification. It was designed to use the stock 78-82 C3 rear glass OR a Cars & Concepts rear opening hatch window kit simmilar to the 82 Collector Edition. I wish I had my scanner up and running because the picture in the catalog makes it look like a factory build.
They had another kit that used a flat hatchback. Not quite as stock looking but looks are subjective.
