Look at this car:

That's your answer buddy - no other car will come close to the style of a C3, nothing looks as good at this car coming and going.

I have the good fortune to own a C3, C4 and a C5 - I love all my vettes, all of them have beautiful styling, but NOTHING LOOKS LIKE A C3!

The C3 is like a voluptuous woman. Nice and curvy, strutting her stuff with everyone looking. Still looking good in her thirties.

Actually this is a good thread because my old Lightning crowd didn't understand why I sold my 99 Lightning to get a C3 Vette. I loved my Lightning, it was fast and sounded mean but, this old 74 Vette of mine makes me smile whenever I go out to the garage. I don't know why but it makes me feel good.

all of our cars are old and we expect problems. Half the fun is fixing the problems. I would probably be bitching too if I had a new car with problems.

There's actually a C6 forum?

Hey, if you want to hang around here, I suppose everyone could start floormat and cupholder threads to make you feel at home

I was there when that C-6 thread was born (tear, sniff)....

....seriously, I have no idea what's up with the other C6 owners. I do recall however that when the BRAND NEW SHINY TECHNO C-4s came out that you couldn't get a wave out of those guys and that was 20some years ago. I own a C-6 because it is the newest update to the whole line of vettes and is really kick-A$$ fast (side note to Chevy- how 'bout less "fancy" more "brute", think radio delete). To me it is just another in a line of great cars. Sure some are more desireable than others but that is just opinion and I'd love to own any other vette. For some of the more classic ones though it's just the small detail of the purchase price.

I'm not sure about everywhere else but around here a lot of the new Corvettes are leased. Just another lease car being rented. When the 2-3 years are up they move on to something else.

Buying an old Vette is an emotional purchase. It's most likely something that brings you back to your youth or a good time in your life.

That's the reason for this whole mua\scle car craze lately, I believe.

I used to own a C4 and it was not the same.

I've owned a few other newer cars that I really liked but I will probably want one of those 20 years from now.

I will throw this out there just for good measure lol. I grew up around the C-1 and C-2 and C-3 and none of them were in stock form lol. The older C-3 to some has many flaws. Sure they Shake Rattle and Roar but that is what makes them fun you feel you are part of the machine you feel everything and hear everything going on with the car. Where as a newer C-5 or C-6 it is almost like you are driving a video game as everything has been so refined you are really not part of the car just a bystander looking through a window at the world.

Okay simple comparison between the two.

You can open the door to a C-3 and it looks like a jet cockpit you slide in and pump the Holley twice for the start up you turn the key and it roars to life you can smell the fuel as the car shakes and rattles and listen to the sweet music of the solid lifters. Give it a couple of quick blips to clean the plugs and pull out onto the road. As you put it in gear you can feel the gears mesh together in harmony. And as you begin to release the clutch you can feel the driveline take up the slack and the shifter move in your hand from the Torque of the engine with a little buzz and go on down the road and feel this at all times. You are one with the car and if you listen no matter how hard you drive it. The car will tell you everything if you just listen to it.

Now how in the world can you compare that to a C-5 or C-6 I do not think you can.

I like the Gritty nature of the these old cars.

To climb in and just drive is an absolute pleasure. theres no other view like the one from the seat of a C3. The long front end with the raised fenders an cowl induction hood just make you feel like your in the coolest car ever built. Sure theres a lot of cars that look great from the out side, but I,ve never sat in anything else that looks that great from the inside.

I bought my '81 knowing I was gonna have to work on it. I've wanted a vette since I was like 10. So when I could finally get one, I got one!

Thanks for the compliment Wuttin. Here is the front view of that shot...I'm standing on a 12 foot ladder in my driveway - trying to balance and line up the lines - neighbors think I've lost it ...Almost a perfect shot except I left the passenger side door open

Buy a C3, put it in your garage, and you just bought yourself a hobby. Your gonna skin your knuckles, get **** in your eyes, hair, mouth. your gonna swear, throw wrenches, swear some more, and when its all said and done, your gonna sit back, open a beer, and smile at your car.
