Default Door Panel Advice

Hey guys,

FNG here. Almost done with my 79 rebuild. We've put a ton of time into the interior and taken the stock 350 block to a 383 stroker. It's going to be a monster when it's all said and done!

I was looking over the interior the other day and the door panels are a little too rough for my tastes. I did some searching in the forums and came across a few places that are carrying door panels, but I had a few questions:

1. Are all the panels for sale 'raw', in that I'll have to cut them for the power windows, arm rests, etc? Is there anyone that sells them complete?
2. Do Ecklers, Zip, and Corvette America get their panels from the same place?
3. What can you guys tell me about the Al Knoch panels? I'm mostly looking for aesthetics and fit/finish comments.

I want to make sure I have a nice fit that looks superb so I can drop it on my baby and have her tip top!

Thanks,
Doc

Almost all the door panels are made by the company, Corvette America and sold at different prices by different vendors. No one sells a door panel already cut for the different accessories. I installed mine myself without having the originals to use as templates. I had to use pictures of where all the accessories went. It's pretty easy. Just remember, cut small holes, you can always make them bigger, never smaller.

What about recovering your current doorskins with leather? I've been thinking about this option as well...

I got new panels for my 81 from ecklers, they have hole in the backing for the handles, switches and the like but not thru the covers. Was not a big deal to cut them to fit, just go slow and be carefull. The new panels make a huge difference. With a little determination you can get the ones you have fixed up pretty good.

Al Knoch, by far, makes the best fitting door panels. The others fit like boots on a rooster.
