but is it GL-5 like the FSM says to use or is it GL-4 like others have suggested to use?
Mine says GL-5 and the book says it should be GL-5 but if other members have info on it then call some lube manufactures and ask them.I have heard of this unfriendly to yellows but have not had a problem. Some fluids are for positraction and could have an additive for foaming and maybe thats the problem.Let us all know what you find.
Autogear recommends Valvoline 80-90 for their Muncies. It's an API GL-5 spec, but it as a sub-spec of MT-1 which the engineers at Autogear say is good for the yellow parts. Others conventional lubes (Castrol, etc) don't have the MT-1 sub-spec.
They also strongly recommend to NOT use synthetics with their Muncies.
Fyi,..
