Hello
My brother in law has a 1969 stingray he bought in 1982 brove it for 3 years before he rear ended someone. It wasn't a hard hit,but enouph to crack the front clip beyond repair. It has 47,000 original miles and has been covered and not driven for 21 years. Reality has set in and he realizes he won't ever have the time or money to fix it up.Although he enjoyed it only for 3 years,he wants to sell.
Can anyone give me a price range he should be looking for
here is some info.
interior is stock ,black, complete, and is crack and rip free
missing front clip
has a hood but has a crack in it(repairable)
stock rims with beauty rings
T-tops
international blue
350 motor
ac
I have pics if anybody needs to see them
any help would be greatly appreciated.
You have to use a photo or file host website to post pics.
I use www.putfile.com (its free)
I'd post some pics, you'll get a lot of interested members on here and alot more advice with pics.
Build sheet is located on gas tank, with only 47,000 ORIGINAL? miles you should still be able to find it, might have to drop the tank.
Shame about the front clip.
Need pics and more info about options, paint quality, rust, modifications to give you a price.
Go to http://www.corvettetrader.com/ and look the year up. You'll get a pretty good idea of what a running one is going for, but it also depends on a lot of other stuff. But the bottom line is, what do you want to pay for it, and can you live with that price and not kick yourself 3 years from now after you dumped some hard earned cash and time into it. You'd be better off deciding what it needs and asking the forum members what they paid to get the job done. (of course you'll get a wide range of answers) i.e.; does it need a new interior?, does the engine need to be re-built, is it a body-off restoration? ask the forum what they spent on their renovations, add them all up, plus the cost of the car and decide what to do. (or not to do)
And your pictures are way to small to see the car clearly.
What we can't tell is frame and other damage from the wreck.
Also, can the mileage be documented via repair records or other means?
Another way of coming up with a price is look up this year under ebay, specifically their sold items. There is a way to get there under advanced search
Finally if you desperately want a number to start with. Here is one
$3000.
I'm sorry, but i am not looking to purchase the car. I'm trying to help him sell it.
the accident was a low speed crunch no frame damage but enouph to need a new front clip, because he didn't save any broken pieces.
interior doesn't need anything it is in very very good condition.
mechanicals will probably need some freshening up being it hasn't been started in 21 years.
if it is the correct motor, lack of rust and has documentation/mileage verification you may get 4-5k for it. car needs alot of work, but would be a cool project bringing it back to life.
