I'm CRACKED!!
Pulled the two pistons (#4 & #8) and found both with cracked ring lands between the top and second rings. # 4 had two areas cracked. NOW I know why I had leakage and blowby, but still don't know about the water loose deal. Looks like the motor is coming out for complete tear down. Damn! Happy 4th of July! Glenn

Have the block ironed. If no cracks?
That's probably the senerio, but still didn't see any evidence when the gaskets and heads were examined.
What do you mean "ironed"? you mean check the deck? The plan as of today is to pull the whole motor back out (yet once again...not bad for 200 miles hum?) and do the whole rebuild thing, AGAIN. I don't trust those other 'new' SRP blower pistons now. Wan't to see them all up close. Still don't know which came first, and why it was overheating other than a possible blown headgasket Glenn
One thing to check very carefully is the ring gap. When people first started putting blowers on the (new style) LT-1 this is exactly what happened. The blower put more heat into the cylinders and the rings buttoned up and broke the ring lands. With a blower you need larger gaps.
ouch! really sorry to hear that Glenn, know howhard and the time you've put into "Blue" the last 2 yrs. hopefully this'll be the last hurdle to get over. good luck w/this rebuild. looks like next yrs power tour will meet up

Thanks Zwede! That's a great tip, and just the kind of stuff I nee people to tell me right now so this WILL be the last of the problems like Ross added. Glenn
