Over the weekend I got the motor out, front and rear bumpers off, and a good bit of paint scraping done.
Notice the unsanded shiny origanal cream paint that was under the red. Was Bubba here or what?
Hey good luck to you on your rebuild. I am a new owner of an 81 as well and I think it is the best Can't ever seem to leave it in the garage and use the 91 Pontaic GTP any longer. GTP is a great car, but doesn't get the looks the 81 does! Again good luck with the car look forward to pics as you complete the job.
Wow look slike that is stripping easy with the rzor! I was wonderingwhat that creme color was in the picture, thought you went thru the primer there until I read the text. What a maroon!
Thanks for all of the support! With the help from you guy's, I'm going to be able to take it to a level I would'nt have dreamed of when I bought it. It's funny, I thought I knew Vettes pretty darn well before I found this forum. But now I realize I have a whooooole lot I can learn to make the transformation go much easier and faster. Thanks again to all of you out there.
I wish I had the time, motivation, and know-how to take on a project that big. My interior is close to completely out, just seats and carpet left, and I'm taking it from camel to black. But pulling the engine, taking off body parts and stripping the paint (assuming you plan to paint it yourself), etc. is more than I want to take on.

It's really more than I want to take on also, I'm just not smart enough to know any better. Thanks for the encouragement. The next big step is getting the body off. I'm putting an Ls1 w/ 6 speed in it. I may be in over my head, but I know the guys here will help me get through it.
