I was reading a previous post about driving at 150mph for a long period of time and I was wondering what was the fastest you have been with your c3?
Me, I ve been owning the car for only a couple of months so I'm scared to F*@! it up and I don't feel to safe driving in a fiberglass body (all stock), 30 year old car with NO airbags and shady looking seat belt ! lol
I went't up to 95mph but that's it for now...Plus in TEXAS COPS are Everywhere!! everytime I take my car i see someone pulled over on the freeway! anyways
What's your top speed on ur vette? (the one u actually drove at)
141mph via electronic speedometer. But that was before my 700R4 OD trans, and before I added about 150hp. I should be good for 150-160 now. I need a test pilot. I also need a gps for accuracy. I also need to vent my hood so that the front end doesn't get light, or find a way to make the side vents functional.
I couldn,t begin to tell you how fast they will go. My 80 model has the 85 mph speedometer. I have no problem pegging it out though. I am also interested in knowing what they were spec'd at running top speed.
Well anyone with sense thats gong to be driving at speed and likes
to keep there head atached to there shoulders will have a roll cage.
but hey people get on motorcycles all the time with no helmet guess
there head is a lot harder then asphalt or cement they should
drop a watermelon on the ground and watch it for a brain test. Back
in my young dummer days my souped up 454 73 would peg the 160
speedo,

Had my 71 Coupe 406/375_700R4_Steeroids R&P up to 140MPH once way out in the sticks, on 265/50HR/15 Euro TA's (25.5" tall), with a 700R4 in fourth and 3.08 gears.
I was taching about 4K if I remember right (lots of throttle left but those tires were only "H" rated).
The car felt fine at that speed, though most C3's will start to feel light in the front at anything faster as I understand it...

Probably about 100-110 in my '79. It redlines at 6000 (about 120mph) and goes as high as 7000 (about 140mph), but i've never taken it past 5500 in 4th.
Since my speedo doesn't work, I have to watch the tach. Also, I just got the car in Oct and put about 2k into a new suspension and brakes...I don't want to wreck the car yet! Besides, its summer time - time to just cruise and look good.....
Top speed for me is around 145 mph and didnt feel to comfortable in the c3 Im afraid something might break, spindles ,my 73 is very unstable
over a 100mph,but on my zx11 or busa 175 mph or 190 is no problem
I came close to redline in 4th gear racing a Z06 (on a closed course of course ) my friend said that I was near 130mph. The car pulls hard up there and I'm sure that it would keep pulling hard through 5th gear. But after the race I got on the brakes hard. There's really no room to stretch her legs more than that, just on the gas hard, then on the brakes hard.

one time only, 140 mph on a new streach of highway that did not go compleatly through yet. time was about 1:00 am. cops weren't really patrolling the road yet.
it felt like there was just a little more there, but that was as far as my nerves would let me go.
