I dont take the 80 fast that often..but when I do I like to know just how fast Im going...or I get nervous..thats why I had to swap out that 85MPH speedo in favor of a 140MPH face...
Anyway the best so far is 111MPH..twice..but my engine started to run out of breath at about 95MPH and it only creeped up after that...Top speed is probably 120 or so..
I've gone about 150 or so, but my speedo isnt hooked up, had a friend in a modded out mustang tell me, we where on radios. I didnt feel too safe at all, aerodynamics are not too great. Funny part, when i was coasting down to normal speed, a county cop went by, turned around and pulled me over for speeding. Got it for 74 in a 55.
Hey Carl,
Email me your photos and I'll donate you page on site at corvettecolors.com. They sound really cool. Keep us updated on your progress.

hey Ron,
thanks for the offer. I don't see an e-mail on your profile. I'll tried your home page link - ended up with arkansas homepages organization or some such thing - i'll try to pm you!
I tried putting a commercial photo of the C-3 on photobucket - it's there - but I think it must have some sort of copywrite lock - at least thats a better excuse than: I can't figure it out.
When I do get your e-mail, i am sending you a few photos (5 or 6 - can your system handle it?)from Bonneville 2 years ago (rained out last year). some are of the C-3 that went 163 - others are of my C-4 right after I rescued it from the Junkyard - bone stock with 145,000 miles on it - it put 5 different people in the 130 MPH club (1 mile run) that day - now days it's painted and has a ZZ4 with a Tremek 5 speed in it.

my stock(ish) 76 has made it up to a blistering 92 mph in the 1/4 at gateway international raceway dragstrip - oo yeah...
I had a 68 Chevy truck I built during highschool with 3.08:1 rearend and a decent 350 V8. The speedo went to 100. I had it to the "H" of "MPH" before, guessing that was about 110-115 - I don't think she would have gone any faster - the 68 truck was like pushing a brick.
I wouldn't do that again, not very safe on the road for you or anyone/anything else that happens to get in the way.
Funny you should ask. Saturday, on the way home from work, I was cruising along at 70 when a Silver C-5 comes up along side of me and gives me a nod. He then proceeded to accelerate hard from 70 so I did what any of us would do. I stood on it...and from a rolling 70 mph it is amazing the pull to 125!!! I think the guy was a little shocked that my old tub of glass hung real well on a roll with his modern rocket. We stayed at 125 for a while and I needed to take the next exit so I let him go.
Having owned a C-5, I am sure he was more comfortable at those speeds, but I was having ALOT more fun!!!
a couple of you asked to see photos of the c3 we run at bonneville. Ron helped me out and put up this webpage http://corvettecolors.com/Carl.htm

I've done 80 in a 25mph zone...
plus when I drive my C3 at about 45-50mph, the roaring and rumblling makes me feel like I'm doing 100mph, so its fun no matter what speed I'm hitting..
