For the record, I never said Gregs' decision to go cheaper was a bad one. I thought it was well done and documented for others to follow. The thread turned into a "who's better thing" all by itself.

What I'm getting tired of is how hard it is to offer advise, opinions, suggestions, and/or facts without someone taking it personal or being offended. It is for this reason that I would consider exiting this forum and not because someone wants to save a few dollars.

To those that posted support, I thank you.

So, let's let Gregs thread end at four pages and I'll get back to you on the radiator comparison later
I would LOVE to see this comparison. Honestly at first I didn't think much of your rads, as they were over 2x the price of most of the ones I've been quoted on, but I've heard good things about them so I won't down you on that. However, the fact that I can get a radiator for $200 less than yours that has the same design makes me raise an eyebrow at how much difference there might be. I'm all for you doing this comparison and may even buy that radiator off you from ebay after your test just to show my support, gotta have a backup after all.

When I get my 454 small block motown engine I will give ya a ring Tom. For now, lets see that comparison.

I changed my mind, that's what happened. I thought about it for a while and I realized that we already discussed the differences. If the above things don't concern you, then me buying one and stating the same things again isn't going to change anyones mind.

Dern Tom...I was hoping this comparison was gonna happen, as I'm sure others were. It would be a h*ll of a way to prove your product is worth the extra money. I here nothing but good about your product. I really wanted you to sway me towrds the Direct Fit.

I wanted a factory correct perfect fit radiator for my 68 restoration and went with Dewiits becasue it was PERFECT in every way. Glad I did too these last few weeks, since it has been hot as hell in Massachusetts and I have not had any cooling problems whatsoever with my new Dewitts radiator.
I am old enough to know (and learned the hard way too many times) that you get what you pay for in this world.
Just my opinion,
Kurt

Do not look now Tom but I have to agree with you on this one. But since we did not hear anything back I just had to ask. Keep up the great work Tom

Default ok Alum vs copper or Brass

OK if Brass and copper are better at heat transfer why do we go to Alum is it because of durability?

Yeah, that's what they tell you in the catalog, and on the phone when you call tech for an rma #, but after you pay to ship your parts back, they send you a letter giving you the choice of a 20% restock fee, or you paying to ship your parts back to you (not at the $8.95 handling fee either) because they can't sell "used" parts.

I don't think Tom has anything to prove at this point.

I met Tom at Carlisle a number of years ago when I purchased rear storage compartment hardware from him for my 82. I can tell you that he only sells quality products at a fair price....he stands behind what he sells and is willing to help in any way possible.....what more does anyone want from a company.

Thanks Tom for pointing out the differences in the two rads and please don't stop, it would be a shame to lose your valuable input.

Default Thanks Noonie

Makes sense...so all things equal a brass or copper will cool as well as a Alum. I have no problems with my current original system...gotta pull it to repair and repaint my support. So while I have it out I will have it cleaned and checked out instead of replacing with alum.
Thanks
Mike

The huge price differences are the reason people would like to see the comparisons. Everything is built differently...it is the performance and fit that is the deciding factor. That, I believe, was most peoples interest in seeing the comparison...fwiw. Loyalty is admirable though

I'm not sure what brand my radiator is, I think it's a Summit brand with a Griffin sticker on it
The previous owner installed it - no cooling issues

at least one thing on this car that works
