I have had both and the Al Knoch isn't that much better. You'll actually spend more time on the Al Knoch pad because they leave the backside with the excess still attached whereas the CA dash is pre-trimmed. It took me a few hours longer to do this before I installed the dash.

The packing was actually better with the CA dash.

Because the Al Knoch dash was about $100 cheaper and I knew what to expect from messing with the CA dash installing the first time around I'm pretty happy with mine.

But don't expect a night / day difference if your get a Al Knoch pad because they are pretty much the same.

Might look at Just Dashes. They remake your old original pad. I have no first hand experience with them, but have heard nothing but good about thier work. Not too impressed with Al Knoch replacement either.
If it goes, I'm trying Just Dashes.

I bought a dash pad from Al Knoch a year ago. Good quality, good fit, well worth the price. I have bought all my interior pieces from them(door panels, windshield trim, leather seat covers) and they have been of high quality and fit perfectly. No complaints. No problems.

I have not used their customer service line because I feel that it is very much like asking for directions and real men don't ask for directions.
