Has anyone here replaced the front speakers in their '79. If so what kind of work needs to be done, does the whole dash have to be removed or can I get to it through the top covers?
Sorry to Hyjack but how hard is a 75? I see no covers and the left side is blown!
Thanks
Thats the toughest--Some guys pull the top dash but I go in from the bottom-drop column and speedo and tach-to get the top off you have to remove moldings and sometimes they fall apart. You have to flex the top dash some to get it out and it can crack. From the bottom is safer for me because its not my car usually.I try not to open cans of worms if I can help it.Your passenger side is a piece of cake.

Damn, that's what I thought; with Vettes some things are just not easy! Thats what makes it fun. Thank you for your response!
Something to consider is the kick panel loc.
Some 5.25 can be mounted in the kicks properly (solidly mounted w/ a plate) w/o mods to the kick panel. While one would normally want the tweeters near the primary front speakers, the dash location can work very well for tweeters.
Kenwood eXcelon mask CD & 5.25 components in kick panels.
They were something like that, I go em after trying them out at Best Buy a few years ago, they were around 60 bucks for 2. BTW, who is that guy kidding with his additional $30 for shipping to Canada??
