Default Sonofa....grrr....

It's always something with our cars...today the fan shroud wouldn't come out, even after cutting the top of it (it's not in that great of shape, and I don't plan to ever reinstall it). Since my aluminum radiator has been in the garage for a while now, I decided to just pull the radiator (which turned out to be full of gunk, anyway). After finally fighting with that, and cutting both the lower radiator hose and one of the transmission cooler lines, I found a nasty surprise...there is a big hole in the lower right-hand side of my radiator support and a spot that looks like it is bubbling on the lower left-hand side.

What's a good used radiator support for a 77 selling for these days? Does anyone make patch sections? Anyone got one with the bottom rusted out but good sides?

I know your feeling...I climbed under the car a while back to inspect the suspension, and noticed that the radiator support on our '74 is all rusted out. If I could get my hands on a welder, I'd go to Industrial metal Supply, buy a strip of steel, and weld a new support in, but unfortunately I don't have a welder...

Definately going to call Gary Gruhala...I'm going to be down his way, anyway, and he might have something helpful. I need a few other bits and pieces, anyway.

I tried to weld some repair pieces to mine but the metal was too thin even where there was no rust showing. It was rusted out from the inside. I called MADvet and got a new one. BTW, the seals and upper air dam do not come with the support.

I got mine for $100 on ebay plus $20 shipping. It is in excellent shape. I just kept my eyes open for a deal.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8046553746

My old one was in usable shape but it is not worth the shipping cost to get it to you. (Besides it has a few metal washers welded to it now as I was using it for dinosaur practice http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1378807)
