Back in 2001 there was a thread about a new/improved blower fan for the early C3's. The fan had more blades and a more curved blade. The poster was Smokehouse69Mark2. He had a picture of the two fan impeller side by side for comparison. The old impeller was black and the new one was white.
Does anyone know the part number of this improved fan?
I don't want to use the wider late C3 fan/motor or the C4 fan/motor since I don't want to have a spacer installed. Most of the extra blade width will be out of the airstream, ie inside the spacer, so the extra width will not add to the air flow.
At least one person has sectioned their HVAC case to deepen the well where the fan sits. This has the added advantage of unshrouding the evaporator, providing better air flow across it.
i bought the fan and squirrell cage from carquest, it was a ''bravo blower motor'' the squirrell cage is 1 1/4'' deeper,,so i made a spacer out of a pot belly stove pipe cap,,i found at menards for 4 dollars, the cap is made for capping off a chimmney,, i traced the blower motor on the cap w/ a marker and cut it out w/ tin snips,,bought longer screws,,painted it black, and you cant even tell its there,,,,here's a photo..also i used a vaccume line slit with a razor length wise for a gasket-------------------------------------------
