What do you vette guys think will sound the best, it's an 1980, so single exhaust from cat up, which sounds the best? had my share of hot rods but never a car with single exhaust and 2 mufflers, it's an original low mileage car so only mufflers will be the exception, thanks for any opinions
I put Flowmasters Super 40 on my 75 and they sound great. It's a personal thing. I would try to find some people who have different muufflers and see which one you like. As far as I am concerned the Flowmasters sound great.
Agree,..you need to listen to different mufflers. I run Dynomax Super Turbos and it's about twice as loud as stock. Flows are about 4x louder than stock.
I love my Dynomax's,..and they seem to sound better than when they were new.
Dynomax UltraFlows here. All stainless construction with lifetime warrentee at half the price of the Borlas (with better power than the Borlas). The FlowMasters will drive you crazy with their "drone" at cruise speeds.
Walker Dynomax mufflers are available as direct fit for Vettes with tips and brackets attached. Unlike all of the flowmasters that are only universal mufflers for any application including pickups and normally require special pipe bending for installation to do it correctly on a Vette.

I like the idea of direct fit, maybe I'll try the dynomax, i have flo's on my big block nova and like them but change is good, thanks to all for the responses.. Great Site!
a little side note.. just bought this super clean low milleage 80 with an interior that is perfect and what is the first thing i do? while opening the battery compartment door i lifted the door before the button was totally down and broke the little finger thingy off so now i have to do some glue research
Beware!!!!! I have a '78 and I worked with a few different exhaust people who set me straight here. According to every one of them the issue is the stock cat. I was told it wouldn't matter what kind of muffler you put on it as the cat is so restrictive it acts as a muffler. One shop removes the mufflers and runs straight pipes out and he says it sounds like it should. At issue was I wanted to retain the stock look from behind. I finally settled on s/s dual exhaust with high flow cats from Allen's. Nice rumble but not obnoxious; stock look retained. Installed without a hitch; all pieces included. The bottom line is the story i was told from a number of exhaust people is that you will not get a nice sound with a stock cat on the car. You either have to remove it or go to high flows.
